The series on “Colonoscopy: Updates and Prospects” is edited by Dr. Muhammad Aziz from University of Toledo, Dr. Zubair Khan from Mercy Clinic and Dr. Viveksandeep Thoguluva Chandrasekar from Augusta University.

Dr. Muhammad Aziz is completing his Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship from University of Toledo. He earned his medical degree from Aga Khan University, Pakistan and completed residency training in Internal Medicine from University of Kansas, Kansas. He also served as a chief resident at University of Toledo.

Dr. Aziz has interest in evidence-based medicine and has several systematic reviews, meta-analysis and network meta-analysis published in reputable journals. On the clinical side, Dr. Aziz is interested in improving outcomes related to colonoscopy particularly adenoma detection rate and serrated lesion detection rate.

Dr. Zubair Khan is a staff gastroenterologist at Mercy Clinic East Communities. He completed his gastroenterology fellowship from the University of Texas at Houston. He earned his medical degree from Nishtar Medical College, Multan Pakistan. He completed his internal medicine training at the University of Toledo, where he also served as chief resident of internal medicine.

Dr. Khan has an interest in outcome research and evidence synthesis.

Dr. Viveksandeep Thoguluva Chandrasekar earned his medical degree from Madras Medical College in Chennai, India. Upon graduation, he completed his Internal Medicine residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University from Syracuse, New York, and Gastroenterology & Hepatology fellowship at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He went on to pursue additional fellowship training in Interventional and Therapeutic Endoscopy at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Interventional/ Therapeutic Endoscopist in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Augusta University Medical Center/ Medical College of Georgia.

Dr. Thoguluva Chandrasekar’s research interests mainly focus on therapeutic endoscopy, pancreato-biliary disorders, colorectal cancer surveillance, quality improvement, outcomes research and artificial intelligence.
