
Yanghee Woo, MD

Dr. Yanghee Woo is a surgeon scientist with expertise in gastric cancer and surgical innovation who is dedicated to bringing the most advanced cancer care to her patients. She is an Associate Professor of Surgery at City of Hope, a national comprehensive cancer center in the United States where she also as the Vice Chair of International Surgery and Director of GI Minimally Invasive Therapies.
Dr. Woo completed her surgical residency at Columbia University Medical center, a research fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and a clinical fellowship in gastric cancer and robotic surgery at Yonsei University, Severance Hospital. She is a member of the SAGES robotic task force, SSO GI Work Group and International Surgery Committee, and the G6+ international gastric cancer consortium. She has numerous peer-reviewed publications, contributed several chapters in leading surgical textbooks, one of the editors of the SAGES Robotic Surgery Atlas, and travels worldwide to give invited lectures in the field of robotic surgery and gastric cancer.

Ethnic disparity in gastric cancer and development of risk-assessment methods for early detection in high risk patients
Clinical and molecular determinants of gastric cancer outcome
Novel methods of biomarker targeted imaging of solid tumors
Oncolytic viruses in the treatment of complex abdominal cancers as part of Dr. Yuman Fong’s laboratory
